Our beloved Alice Evelyn Handlang, peacefully left this world to be with our Lord and Savior on March 29th, 2025, at the age of 64 in St. Peter’s MO. She was born on August 19th, 1960, in Syracuse, New York.
She was the cherished mother to Katie Ann Handlang, Richard Allen Handlang II (Sarah), and Stepmother to Jason Roy McCauley. A much-loved grandmother to Kyle, Michéla, Brooke, Michael III, Kyler, Wyatt, and Raelynn. Dear sister to James William Curry Jr. (Denise) and Laura Jean Talley (Larry). She was an Aunt and Great Aunt to many.
She was preceded in death by her son Michael William McCauley Jr., her daughter Rachel Lynn Gregory, her father James William Curry Sr., and her mother Rosemary Corona Leporin.
Alice loved her children and grandchildren more than anything in the world. She treasured every second with them. Some of our favorite memories with her were Christmas mornings, backyard BBQ’s, playing games, doing word search books, listening to music while cleaning and dancing, our witty banter back and forth, and she gave the best hugs. But most of all, our favorite memory of her was her scent. She wore the same perfume her whole life and it is a scent that is unforgettable. It was worth every hug.
Alice loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a jokester. She and her best friend of 52 years, Sharon Olive, would sit at the kitchen table for hours playing bones (dominos), laughing over the silliest jokes and telling stories of their past together. They truly loved one another and had a bond that was beyond reach. Some would say they are soul sisters.
Back in her working years, she was a skilled union painter for a long time. She often worked alongside her son, Michael. They would come home together; paint clothes covered in a day’s hard work and recap a job well done. She genuinely loved what she did, and her work was impeccable.
Alice was tough, strong-willed, sharp minded, kind, caring, and the most loving woman. She was generous and would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it.
Rest easy Momma, you will be missed.
