Derek Ryan O'Neal Shelton

Derek Ryan O’Neal Shelton, affectionately known as “Ryan” of St Charles, MO, was called home by the Father on August 11, 2025, at 8:35 am at DePaul Health Center, St Louis, MO, at the young age of 43.

Ryan was born in St Charles, MO, on September 04, 1981, to Derek O’Neal Proctor and Valerie Jean Shelton, both of whom preceded him in death. Ryan was a graduate of St Charles HS and spent his life living and working in St Louis/ St Charles County.

Ryan’s girlfriend, Stephanie Platt, of Union, MO, stood valiantly by his side, praying, supporting, and loving him unconditionally through his hospitalization and passing.

Along with being a hard worker, Ryan was a “hard” player. He was an avid gamer and Tekken player. He amassed a large friend group in that community who, after two decades, still call him “brother”.

Ryan walked this life led by faith in The Most High, and the light that he shone into this world was a direct result of that. He was an avid believer and a student of scripture, both in study and practice.

Ryan is survived by one brother, Sean Cameron, currently of Los Angeles, CA; one sister, Shannon Jillian Shelton, of St Charles, MO and a host of aunts, and cousins.

Ryan was also preceded in death by grandparents, Lorene Hicks; Shirley Brown ne Hunn; Leonard Shelton; and two uncles.
