Harrison Bohn Jr. Obituary

Harrison Wallingford Bohn, Jr. passed away at his home in Hillsboro, Missouri on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

He was born to Alberta (née Lovett) and Harrison Bohn, Sr. on February 24, 1950, in Saint Louis, Missouri, the fourth of six children. He attended Normandy High School. Harry spent many years working in the automotive industry before starting his own contracting company, using his skills to restore historic Saint Louis homes.

It was during his time as an auto mechanic that Harry met the love of his life, Patti. She brought her Ford Escort in for service, and he asked if she had any special requests for the car’s new wiper blades. She jokingly replied that she’d like a set in lime green. When she returned to pick up the car, Harry had cut thin strips of lime green automotive tape and added them to the wipers. Harry and Patti were married in 1996, creating a big, blended family with their children from previous marriages.

An avid tinkerer, Harry was always building something, and his creativity was unending. Among his inventions was a potato launcher, built in the 90s with his daughters out of PVC pipe and a spark plug, fueled by hairspray and boasting a truly astonishing firing range. Just two weeks before his passing, he dried the kitchen floor after an appliance leak with a contraption which included a blower salvaged from an inflatable Christmas penguin.

After retiring, Harry spent as much time as possible on adventures with his grandchildren, fishing and exploring the woods and creek behind the house he and Patti had made into a bright and beautiful home in Hillsboro. Whether building toys and furniture in his wood shop or working with his neighbors on various projects, he was always moving, always helping, always creating. Harry would have been the first to tell you that he was not a perfect man. He was, however, a man who tried. He had a deep personal faith in Jesus Christ, which served as a great source of comfort and peace during his treatment for pancreatic cancer. He said he would keep doing as much as he could until he just couldn’t do it anymore, and he held to his word. Patti was devoted to his care throughout his illness, and he went home to his Creator with his hand in hers.

Harrison was preceded in death by his parents, Alberta and Harrison; and his stepson, Edward Luepker. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Bohn (née Dwyer); his children Harrison Bohn III, Erin Bohn, Anna (Joe) Comfort, and Maggie Bohn; his stepdaughter Erin (Kevin) Reed; his grandchildren Jack, Ella, and Julian; and his siblings Jane (Frank) Fischer, Janet (David) Patient, Susan Redel, Kathleen (Dave) Marvel, and Clinton Bohn.
