Jason Vaughan Obituary

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Jason Ray Vaughan, 51 years of age,of St Louis, Mo, on July 18th, 2026.

Though his life was cut far too short, Jason was so much more than his struggle with substance use disorder. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend whose infectious laugh, kind heart, and bright spirit brought immense joy to those who truly knew him.

Growing up, Jason had a passion for all things Halloween, which may have come from being born on a Friday 13th. He had a deep capacity to love and be loved.

For many years, Jason fought a courageous and exhausting battle against the relentless disease of addiction. He tried so hard to overcome the cravings and pain that came with this illness. While we are devastated that this disease ultimately took him from us, we take comfort in knowing he is finally at peace and free from the daily struggle.

We share his story openly in the hope that it might help break the stigma surrounding addiction, and perhaps spare another family from this same heartbreak. Addiction does not discriminate, and it is a battle that requires compassion, not judgment.

Jason leaves behind a family who loved him unconditionally. He is survived by his parents Allen Vaughan of Bridgeton,MO and Pamela Hagar of Lewis Center,OH; his siblings Angela (Mark) Bryant of AR, Renee (Wasim) Rahim of TX, Regina (Doug) Ashe of OK, Michael (Erica) Vaughan of TX; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jason leaves behind his children: Bailee, Emma, Tyler, and Zane. Others left to cherish his memory are his girlfriend, Nikita, alongside a circle of friends who shared in his life’s journey.

Jason was proceeded in death by his grandfathers and grandmothers: Jim and Opal Vaughan, and Earl and Laverne Jackson.
