John Michael Sowders

John Michael Sowders, age 84, passed away on November 3, 2025. He was born in Berkeley, Missouri, on July 3, 1941, to Grace Lenore Hamilton and Jesse Paul Sowders.

John is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Jeremiah Michael Sowders, and his brothers, Charles William “Bill” Sowders and Jesse Paul “Bush” Sowders. He is survived by his daughters Julie Davis, Jennifer Sowders, and Priscilla Klipfel, as well as seven grandchildren.

John is a retired member of Operating Engineers Local 513. His passion and lifelong career dedication was building and creating stone retaining walls. His skills took him to job sites across the country, including California, Iowa, and Nevada.

John had a love for cooking and a deep connection to nature. His lifelong work with natural materials allowed him to spend his time outdoors where he was happiest.

The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
