Born on November 10, 1953, in Cleveland Ohio, Richard Evans Smith later made his home in St. Louis, where he built a life defined by resilience, skill, and quiet strength.
From a young age, “Ricky” learned how to take care of himself and those around him. A true jack of all trades, his hands reflected hard work; his life reflected determination.
He found joy in music, cars, and classic old westerns. A loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the St. Louis Cardinals, he carried that same loyalty into the way he loved - steady and unwavering.
He did not need to be the loudest in the room to be felt. His presence was calm, grounding - the kind you don't fully realize you depend on until it’s gone.
Ricky was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Alice Dorsey; his sister, Deborah Smith; his brothers, Benjamin Smith and Gilbert Hayes; and his nephew, Alvin Douglas Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Wendy Lomnick; bonus daughter, Kelley Powell; and his beloved grandchildren, AuDee, Tatum, and Autumn. And a host of nieces & nephews who loved their uncle Ricky & he loved them the same.
Though his hands are now at rest, the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the quiet way he showed up in this world will remain. His story does not end here. It lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, loved him, and will forever carry him with them.
