Robert L. Whelehon of Urbana, IL, age 65, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on February 16, 2024 after complications from his lengthy battle with Leukemia. He was born on July 14, 1958 in Aurora IL to LeRoy & Lois (Brindac) Whelehon. Robert graduated from Hinckley-Big Rock High School in 1976. Robert is survived by his devoted wife Connie (Schwemlein) Whelehon. They were married May 3, 1980 for 43 years. Robert always joked, "he never got married because his name never changed." They had three children, Heather (Jeremy) Roark, Chelle Whelehon, and Jacob (Brittany) Whelehon, as well as eight grandchildren, Cheyanne Whelehon, Abby Whelehon, Ellie Whelehon, Gracie Whelehon, Benny Whelehon, Paisley Roark, Tillie Roark, and Emric Roark.
Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on small engines, gardening, and barbecuing. Robert always enjoyed having his eight grandchildren help him with anything they could.
Robert leaves behind a sister Debbie Kirkpatrick, brother John (Beth) Whelehon. He also leaves behind several brother in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents LeRoy & Lois Whelehon and his father in-law Henry Schwemlein.
Per Robert's wishes, he will be cremated, then placed on his family's farm in southern Missouri with a private ceremony at that time. Cremation will be through Foundation Cremation Services.
The family appreciates all of the love & support during his recent illness, as well as at this time. The family also encourages those who are able to donate blood and platelets to do so, or make a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
