Ruth Adele Hardin, lifelong resident of St. Louis, passed away peacefully at age 97 on October 25, 2025. Ruth was born to Edward and Emma (Schuermeyer) Hardin on December 4, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Edna (1930), brother Edward (2006), and sister-in-law Marian (2021).
Ruth graduated from University City Senior High School in 1945. “ She is modest and gentle as a maiden is, and from her reputation, she tends strictly to ‘biz’. She was an honor student participating in operetta, Mortar and Pestle, Leader’s club and chorus.
After working in a bank for a short time, she faithfully worked for Alcoa from 1948 through 1986. She enjoyed retirement with European travel and volunteering at the Rep and a the zoo. She resided at 525 N. Central Ave. until 2013 when she moved to the Brentmoor.
The central part of Ruth’s life was Grace United Methodist Church. As a member since 1955, she held the position of chair of finance committee and served on the board of trustees and the building and grounds committee. She was instrumental in establishing the Charlotte and Wesley Hager lecture series.. She was a cornerstone at Sunday school, food pantry, and United Methodist Women. Ruth was a true friend and a faithful servant.
